I don't know what a feather mattress topper is, so I can't help you there but I do have a feather duvet (comforter) and feather pillows and I do wash them. I just make sure they're in zippered covers ... |

soak it w/ the homemade cat pee odor remover you can make from baking soda & hydrogen peroxide. It's the only thing that really truly works outside of paying $5-$10 for the kind at the store.
